After being postponed multiple times due to weather, the long-anticipated overnight fly-in to Kern Valley is finally cleared for takeoff! Join the High Sierra Pilots Club for a relaxed weekend of flying, camping, and connecting with fellow aviators in one of California’s most scenic backcountry airports.
Kern Valley Airport (L05) sits right along the Kern River and offers a perfect setting for an overnight adventure. With wide-open skies, gorgeous mountain views, and a welcoming friendly vibe, this is a classic fly-in destination that’s worth the wait.

There are several small lodges, motels, and vacation rentals nearby in Kernville and Lake Isabella for those who prefer a soft bed and hot shower. We recommend booking early, as local accommodations can fill up quickly—especially on weekends. Let us know if you’re staying off-airport so we can help coordinate ground transportation and meet-up times.
